I have never actually done one of these. This will be fun.1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Went on a holiday on my own. I know, this seems a little odd and actually, there have been a few solo trips planned since I was like ... 17, 18, but they always fell through at the last minute and this year the plans didn't fall through. It was only a weekend, but sometimes that's all you need.2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't really make resolutions because I forget them like, half an hour later. 3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yup! Not so long ago actually, my cousin became a Dad and his daughter is one of the most... aware babies I've ever met. She's always
just watching people. 4. Did anyone close to you die?
For once, I got through the year without being in funeral wear. That was fun.5. What countries did you visit?
Just England6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
Friends who live near me. 7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
My 21st birthday and the few days surrounding that, which includes the first weekend in October. It was the maddest time, and one of the best times, and just all sorts of happiness and the like.8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Academically proving I could bullshit better than I thought. Also: gaining a full page in the uni magazine for an article I wrote on the end of the Harry Potter era. Socially... going on holiday by myself. 9. What was your biggest failure?
This latest term of uni. Not academically - I'm still doing my fairly standard way there - but ... yeah. 10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Well, I had food poisoning during the summer which lasted about two weeks. Interestingly it was the side effects of the medication that lasted longer. Then I seemed to be fighting off a flu for the past month which has come and gone. Injury ... well I almost broke my nose, then a big blocky power adapter dropped on my toes... It's been an interesting couple of days11. What was the best thing you bought?
Train tickets to London. Alternatively: my blu-ray dvd player. Which sounds very materlistic of me but I shall explain: my old dvd player was ... quite a good few years old. No, seriously, I think I bought it when I was still in high school. It died round about my birthday, and using my birthday money, I decided I would buy myself a new dvd player and well... the blu-ray one was in a sale and I got Tangled with it for a bit less than what it was meant to cost. 12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My family and my friends. The ones I can call friends.13. Whose behavior appalled and depressed you?
Ii am purposefully leaving this blank as those who read this meme may likely know
the answer to this, and thus why I do not want to answer it. 14. Where did most of your money go?
Travel to and from uni, pens, and lunch. ... Uni's expensive. 15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Oooh, interesting one. Erm, fandom wise it was Horrible Histories, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, and the return of YOUNG DRACULA. Real life wise, probably my 21st. I don't usually get excited about my birthday, but this was my 21st and I was having this big party, and some great friends were coming up for it... Yeah, it was an exciting time.16. What songs will always remind you of 2011?
Probably Na Na Na
. MCR was my first gig of the year, and it was actually my first actual gig in a long while. Not to mention it was a band I'd been wanting to see since I was 13 or 14, and ... well, I'm never going to regret that I saw then during the Danger Days tour rather than the Black Parade tour that - at the time - everyone I knew managed to get tickets to. 17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or sadder?
Today? I'm about the same. Over the past few months? I've been a lot sadder than I was last year. Much to my external frowny face. ii. Thinner or fatter?
I ... genuinely have no idea. Last week, I actually bought my first pair of skinny fit jeans. It was the same size I always buy, but it's actually too big for me around the waist - only reason I didn't swap for the size smaller is because I couldn't move my knees in the size smaller.iii. Richer or poorer?
Tiny bit richer as I still have a bit left of my birthday money; most of it sort of got used for day to day things.18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I wish ... I wish I had a way to travel more. I'd like to be able to get down and visit some friends more, and I wish I wrote more letters. I know I'm terrible for it, but I do occasionally just write out these long letters to people and never send them and ... I need to get better at it. 19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Caring about the things that were making me sad. Also I wish I'd stressed a lot less over the past month or so 'cause I still feel pretty bleh from it all. 20. How did you spend Christmas?
Playing Pokémon Black. 22. Did you fall in love in 2011?
What is this emotion that you call love?23. How many one-night stands?
Pffft. 24. What was your favorite TV program?
Young Dracula. Without a single doubt. 25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
At times I wonder if hate is the wrong word for it. Severely dislike? Feel completely humliated and betrayed by? 26. What was the best book you read?
Ooh, tough one. Hm... I really, really
want to say Son of Neptune, and it's definiately in my top 3 but... But I got back into Eoin Colfer this summer and read one of the only books of his I hadn't - Half Moon Investigations - and it is just the most ... darling little book. It's funny, the characters are deeply enjoyable, and it's just one of those little books that I genuinely couldn't look away from - it came with me to London, just like Son of Neptune. (3rd in the top 3 is a tie - Snuff and Game of Thrones) 27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Oh, either Valencia
or... No, I'm going to say Valencia 'cause Skillet wasn't exactly a discovery, more of a re-discovery. 28. What did you want and get?
Erm... a new phone. Thanks parents! 29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Hard one. Animated is Megamind. Live action ... I think I'm going to have to go with Thor. 30. What is your favourite new food?
This chicken teriyaki noddle dish. It's nothing special, but it's just one of those things that are quick to make, and really filling. 31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 21, and I had a party that was spent with my family, and some great friends. ... Also there was a Worst Witch/Weirdsister College marathon, and wand fights with two of my little cousins, one of whom kept declaring he was a House Elf who wanted his freedom. 32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I should have been satisfied already. Not being satisfied has caused most of my problems.33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
...Lazy.34. What kept you sane?
Sleep. 35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Possibly Ryota Ozawa
, but I wouldn't say it was fancying so much as going "yes, he is very pretty." 36. What political issue stirred you the most?
In recent weeks I've been reading into SOPA a lot, but find me someone on the internet who hasn't. Erm, no, well, thanks to my gender studies class, I ended up doing a lot of reading on SlutWalks and just gender issues in general. 37. Whom did you miss?
As creepy as this may sound; Sid, Sam, Jamie, and J. The former three, it was so
quiet after you left and everything just seemed sort of dull. The latter one, you went awol and you must NEVER DO IT AGAIN.38. Who was the best new person you met?
Erm ... thinking on it, it would be the toku couple of tumblr, since they both sort of made me a lot more aware of toku in general, and are just great people to talk to/flail over fandoms with.39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011:
Shit happens.40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:Give me the chance to speak my mind, my opinions are the social kind, if you for you, and I for I, then one of us is going to leave here blind. You know I won't give up without a fight, even if I'm the one whose wrong, and you're whose right.
