The Lost

So I'm very aware that intention in photo taking can be hard to get across, especially if it's a photo story. I took one that I'm hoping doesn't come across as shippy. I'm hoping that it's more ... a kind of ... understanding that conflict is always a part of these kids life, and that's not good, but yeah. Intention is hard to get across and I just wanted to put that out there. I'm hoping the slight down angle in the photo highlights that no, this is not a good thing but yeah.

Trying to get across an emotion or feeling with photography is hard, is my point here, and it's something I'm experimenting with. Sort of.

I'm due out at an art class tonight. More of an art club, really, since the idea is we all do our own thing. Got to even take my own supplies but the hope is it'll help me be more social and help to deal with a lot of the anxiety that I feel to do with that stuff. Which, I've got to be honest, knowing this is relating to my anxiety makes me think of the Sanders Sides videos, and the idea of personify aspects of your personality to help you deal with them better. Or something like that. I can't remember the exact details. Might try doodling my ones, see if it helps me at all.

... Basically intention is a hard thing to deal with and this was a ramble by me on the subject. Hey-ho.

Seeing The Addams Family Musical in Glasgow, next Wednesday (the 11th). I saw it when it was in Edinburgh, but Mum thought it would be nice to go again and we got cheap tickets so we are going. Gonna go for a pre-theatre dinner, too, make a bit of a night of it. We don't have nights often, so that'll be nice.

Had a bit of a plush want a lot lately. Not sure what's been causing that.

... Yeah, can't think of much else to say here. Will leave off there. Hope you're all doing well!

The Grimm Squeaker

Today has been a bit of a day. I am currently feeling a lot of pain in my jaw/mouth area because I had to go and get a filling replaced this morning in an emergency appointment. That was... not a lot of fun, I'll be honest. I had to take some of my meds to make sure I didn't go into a panic attack in the middle of it all. I am very much not good with needles and since they needed to numb my mouth... well, you get the picture. Long story short, it's been a day. I'm really glad I've got the Galavant soundtrack, because that kept me sane. Attend the tale indeed.

Brother Boy decided to remind me that it's 10 days to my birthday and I am just very "..." about it all. It's like I'm not really looking forward to it? It just seems to be in the middle of appointments for most of my family and it's just a bit of a hassle. I have asked for something... pretty special off the parents and I am kind of kicking myself for doing it, because it was pricey and I should know better. Brother Boy told me he found a Charlie Bear he knew I was looking for at about £20 less than it should be. He's good at finding deals when he wants.

The immediate following Saturday is Glasgow Film and Comic Con (formerly Collectormania Glasgow) and I'm pulling out the Susan Sto Helit cosplay for it. The Grimm Squeaker shall be joining me on this one. I still need to book tickets for MCM but I really cannot be arsed right now. It's a lot to do with how severely my mood has dipped this year, so it makes the whole thing a bit up in the air. Will need to do it soon, on the door prices are ridiculous.

Apparently Bat Out of Hell: the Musical is getting a cast recording album. They took over the instagram for London Theatre and the first couple of stories were in the recording studios. I... actually really want that? I don't know when it'll be due out - I'm figuring in time for the show hitting Toronto - but it is something I want. For my issues with the show - plot, what plot - the vocals were not among them.

Erm... Can't really think what else to say. I'm tired, though. Probably go watch something till I can go to bed and be sure of sleeping more than a couple of hours.

Most Adorable Frog Princess

Okay, so this prompted by Mum just asking me if there's anywhere I'd like to go on my birthday, which is two weeks on Monday (14th August). Honestly? There really isn't? I mean, I have a voucher for some money off at the Disney Store, so it'd be nice to wander along and see if there's anything that catches my eye but apart from that... I think I'll end up just maybe watching DVDs. It's become a thing now, on my birthday. Just to marathon something.

But yeah, that made me go to the website, and then to Smyths and... this is just sort of things I might like to get list. It's kind of small.

- Shibajuku Girls (Yoe or Miki. I like their hair clips best.)
- Disney Store Mulan Classic doll (GREEN DRESS!)
- Marvel Legends Miles Morales
- Gorjuss Doll (not sure which because there's a few that catch my eye. Ladybird, Ruby, and Little Violet stand out)
- Wonder Woman: The Art and Making of the Film

Told you it wasn't a long list. (And yet, my Amazon lists are long...) Mulan is the most likely pick up, tbh. I really need to not be out money though, I've got a convention on the 19th and I never really know what I'll find at those. Probably the WW book, now I think on it. Hopefully maybe a Miles figure too; I have Sam and Kamala so I need the last of the Avengers-to-Champions. (Also Hasbro? Can we get a Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur two-pack please, I would love.)

Still really amused with people on tumblr calling Worst Witch a Harry Potter rip-off when... no, it's just that the first couple of Harry Potter books played on the same boarding school cliches that the Worst Witch books use all the way through.

Also? I got the cast recording for The Lightning Thief: a Percy Jackson Musical. It's good, people. Fully recommended. They actually understand the story, and I can see why Uncle Rick likes it. I can hope that they may release a video of it, since limited run but... yeah.

Catch you on the flip side.

Deleted posts from earlier.

I need to not write stuff when trying to deal with my meds clashing. Also when I'm in low mood because I can't really process properly. Still not doing too good there atm, but self awareness is kicking in so that's something.

Better updates will come.

... Here's the Bat Out of Hell: the Musical trailer

werepuppyblack: (We Will Rock You)

I meant to have this up last Wednesday but I have not been well. There's a bit of a bug going around and I just happened to catch it due to going from the very big heat of London during the day to being completely and utterly soaked when I walked out of the London Coliseum on Tuesday night. No, seriously, wasn't even out in the rain five minutes and my jacket had bent to the power of nature. Freaky.

(Bat Out of Hell: the Musical is ... interesting, as a side note. I'm planning on writing up a better thing for my blog to express my feelings clearer but a sum up? Hm... Music is great, staging is cool, Rock You brings the plot.)

See, now that I'm actually sitting down to write, I don't actually know what I want to say. London was great, and I managed to meet up with a few friends, which is always fantastic. My parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary and they had a nice time as well. I got reminded the other day that it was 4 weeks till my birthday and asked what I wanted. I ... have answered with something, but it remains to be seen if it is at all possible.

On the health side of things? I need to try to get my eating and sleeping back into better patterns. On the eating front, it's not that I'm not eating the right things, it's that... I'm not doing it in a regular enough matter for my metabolism to recognize it. At least, that's what my GP says. Sleeping is just a mess that I can't seem to fix as yet. I'm working on it though.

Fandom? While I'm excited that the new Doctor has been confirmed to be female, I have to admit my hype is stronger for the multi-Doctor Christmas Special. I'm a simple fan.

That's all I can think of right now. Checking in again later.

A Trip to the Theatre

Yesterday I finally got to see a live production of The Addams Family Musical and it was so much fun! Carrie Hope Fletcher was playing Wednesday, and dear gods, that girl has an amazing voice. Here's a video she did with Andrew Lippa of her performing 'Pulled'. In comparison with the Broadway run, Wednesday kept her braids, and Lucas is a bit more... I want to say jock-like than the adorable nerd who wore a Gryffindor tie to meet his girlfriend's parents. It's not bad, I just personally prefer nerd!Lucas. The whole cast was amazing though, and I really wish I had been able to stage door. Maybe when it comes to Glasgow, if I get a ticket for that run of the tour.

I've also been checking out Emerald City, NBC's newest adaptation of the Oz stories. I have to say that I really like it. It's once again a darker look on the stories, but in a rare turn? The Tip/Ozma story is one of the lead ones, and it's played quite seriously. Actually, it's played as a trans story and I am hard pressed to think of one of them in any other fantasy based show at the moment. Tip is my favourite character, with Jack and West tied for second place. I like Dorothy, but I feel like a lot of her story is quite predictable, if only because her story has been played out so many times in other versions. I'm not sure if there's going to be a second season, but I hope there is. My main hope for it is Tip and Jack regaining their friendship - they both seem to miss the other.

As for life in general... Eh, not much has been happening. I still need to make the sales posts, I just seem the lack the energy to do... well, anything as of late. Need to see about fixing that.

And now? Now I am going to go for a nap. Because I am tired.

Will Hugh Jackman and Paul Bettany Square Off in Film Adaptation of Les Miserables?

Not going to lie, I was excited when I heard that MacKintosh had hoped for Alfie Boe to Jean Valjean in the movie but ... eh, I'm not entirely sure what I'm thinking of this news. Jackman is a brilliant performer, so it's not like he couldn't give the role his all. But ... who is Paul Bettany and can he even sing?

Casting isn't finalised yet anyway, so we'll need to wait and see what happens.

First of all, the news of a Blue Beetle on-going to come from the DC Reboot has ... caused  me to me very conflicted. I make no secret of the fact that I love those comics, but the problem is I don't necessarily think the reboot is going to be a good idea in any sense of the word and I was all prepared to boycott DC ... And then they annouce that we're going back to El Paso. *sigh* I am SO  conflicted. It doesn't help that a lot of the new designs and story summaries make it seem like we're right back in the 90s 'EXTREME era, and I cannot be arsed with that. Here's hoping that Blue Beetle, at least, will remain the sweet kid we know him as.

Have started Sinkenger and have gotten to episode 18 ... and it's only really with the introduction of Genta that this show is having an impression on me. Now, to make it clear - Gokaiger I loved from the first episode. Magiranger had me enchated by episode 4, but for this? ... Out of the 18 episodes I've watched, only 4 of them actually stick in mind. And ... I don't know why I'm having this issue. I quite like the characters, and the premise is interesting enough, I just seem to find it bloody boring. But, like I said, I've gotten to Genta and the show finally seems to be sinking in, so we'll see how we go from here

Gokaiger's 199 Heroes Battle movie came out yesterday and I am resigned to the fact that it'll be December before I see it. I really wish there was a way for Tokusatsu to be exported in a slightly more efficient way - though I adore and love Power Rangers to pieces I would love to be able to pick up some of these movies on dvd. Then again, I live in the UK and getting any type of non-UK produced media can be hard enough - and then the industries wonder why people are illegally downloading more. Actually, I'm referring more to this awesome looking action figure when I speak of this but the point stands for dvds and the like as well!

I've recently been listening to the soundtrack for Mozart, l'opera rock on youtube and I've fallen in love slighty, even though I can't understand a word. It's grand, it's theatrical, it's all in French ... it's just one of the many things I've looked at due to being bored and then fallen in love with as its stuck with me past the boredom. It happens a lot. I'm in luck with this one though, the cd/dvd is available via amazon. No idea if it has English subtitles, but I'll learn!

And lastly ... I got the results for the 2nd year of university in. I passed everything - and quite brilliantly for some modules. Bring on the 3rd year. (But please let my 21st before hand result in money so I can afford my third year)

Read an interesting review of it here

So yeah... I really wanna see this. But I know there's no chance of that happening unless it somehow gets transferred for a UK tour and one of those dates takes place in Glasgow. Either that or they release it on dvd. Which I actually see happening kinda quickly, which is quite cool It'd sell well I reckon. The cast seem pretty good, but everything I've heard points at Tony Vincent's St. Jimmy as the highlight. Which is cool, I'm a fan of the guy so it's great to see he's doing well

Doesn't half give me Rock You fic ideas though, that trailer. Hm ...
