werepuppyblack: (We Will Rock You)

I meant to have this up last Wednesday but I have not been well. There's a bit of a bug going around and I just happened to catch it due to going from the very big heat of London during the day to being completely and utterly soaked when I walked out of the London Coliseum on Tuesday night. No, seriously, wasn't even out in the rain five minutes and my jacket had bent to the power of nature. Freaky.

(Bat Out of Hell: the Musical is ... interesting, as a side note. I'm planning on writing up a better thing for my blog to express my feelings clearer but a sum up? Hm... Music is great, staging is cool, Rock You brings the plot.)

See, now that I'm actually sitting down to write, I don't actually know what I want to say. London was great, and I managed to meet up with a few friends, which is always fantastic. My parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary and they had a nice time as well. I got reminded the other day that it was 4 weeks till my birthday and asked what I wanted. I ... have answered with something, but it remains to be seen if it is at all possible.

On the health side of things? I need to try to get my eating and sleeping back into better patterns. On the eating front, it's not that I'm not eating the right things, it's that... I'm not doing it in a regular enough matter for my metabolism to recognize it. At least, that's what my GP says. Sleeping is just a mess that I can't seem to fix as yet. I'm working on it though.

Fandom? While I'm excited that the new Doctor has been confirmed to be female, I have to admit my hype is stronger for the multi-Doctor Christmas Special. I'm a simple fan.

That's all I can think of right now. Checking in again later.

Space Buddies

It... has not been the easiest of weeks.

Brother Boy's birthday went pretty well. We were in town all day, and then I slept all the next day and the day after that because I fully expended all my energy by trying to keep up and keep happy so Brother Boy would not complain of me 'ruining' things. He did like his gift - a pocket digital radio - but I had to go exchange it today because there were issues with the battery section of it. This is why we keep receipts, in case stuff goes wrong.

I have an appointment with my psychologist tomorrow and honestly my mood hasn't improved much since I saw her last. Maybe a little better, but not where I would have liked to be on my little graph thing. Yeah, I have a mood tracker app that graphs my moods for me. It's a thing. I am trying to do things that will improve my mood though. I got the Galavant: the Unreleased Collection and made a playlist of all the music in the correct order. That's been really fun to listen to. I also booked tickets for me, Dad, and Brother Boy to go see Wonder Woman the day it comes out in the cinema.

I am thinking that it might help if I get my bookshelves in order because tidy room can lead to a tidy mind, I just have no energy to get into actually doing that. I will. Soon. I hope. I'm also still selling stuff off to clear and make room in my room and just... yeah. Probably going to clear out some books that I haven't read in a long time and have no real desire to re-read. Maybe some comics too. I don't quite know yet.

Doctor Who is proving entertaining. I'm gleefully awaiting the multi-Master episode. It'll be the first time one has been done on the show. (Big Finish did a drama on it years ago, I'll need to see about getting it.)

Purchase wise... Got some books. The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan, Spellslinger by Sebstien de Castell, and How to be A Bawse by Lilly Singh. I'm reading the latter at the moment as I like her causal narrative style. Also got some new bedding made of jersey cotton which is so lovely and soft and makes me very happy. It's a plain light grey, but I like it and it's comfortable which is the most important thing. I'm looking at some Wonder Woman themed tops online because why not?

Actually, I managed to make enough from sales to order my very first Pullips! According to tracking they arrive tomorrow with any luck. I'm getting the Fantastic Alice Regeneration Series and the Isul Classical Mad Hatter. I am very pleased with both of these, and count myself immensely luck to have been able to afford the pair. They were eBay finds, and the seller was in the UK so that kept costs down.

Ideally I'd like to find the <a href="http://www.pulliphome.com/anne-shirley/>Anne Shirley Regeneration Series</a> but I think that one will be a bit out of my price range for a bit. Still, looking is no real issue. I'm just hoping this doesn't start a trend in me getting a lot of Pullips - my bank balance will not thank me for it, lol. Um... Only other interesting thing to note is that I'm slowly managing to eat meals again. Still having some issues with it, but we're getting there. Guess that's all for now.

May the Fourth

I suppose "Down Days" would be the more accurate title for this, but I am trying to be positive even if it's not what I really feel on a day to day basis. Which, as you might guess, is not very positive at all. I don't really know what's causing it, but I've been on a very strong down for at least a week, probably a bit longer. It's making me really, really tired but I'm too warm to nap for long and the weather getting better is not helping that. It's also made me get out of the habit of trying to do 10 minutes on the exercise bike each day because I simply don't have the energy to do it.

Brother Boy's birthday is on Thursday, and I have his gift in. Not sure if we'll go out or not on the day. At the moment, we're planning to, but Brother Boy has a strong history of changing his mind at the last minute, which is not always great. If he does want to stay in, I guess that's fine. I mean, it's his birthday, I can't be telling him what to do. I hope he likes what I've got him, he's been asking for this for a while so... yeah. Mind you, again with the mind changing thing. He doesn't mean to annoy anyone with it, it's just a thing he does. Not sure if we're getting him a cake or not. He likes really chocolate-y things, and I do not do so well with chocolate. Will work something out.

Think that's all I can think of at the moment. Hopefully I'll have more stuff to talk about later.

Yes, once again I decided to sign up to NaNoWriMo. I'm not doing too badly for a first day, but I feel rather sluggish with my words. I can't really explain it except using the idea of heavy limbs trying to swim further but they're too heavy to make it work. It's... a thing, certainly. I do like my idea this time round, which is just writing short stories about this character and binding them together - no big arc of the book. More of a "here's the life of [x]. Enjoy!" I'd like to reach at least 30,000 words. I don't think I've got any real chance of making the big target, but maybe I could meet my own.

Tomorrow - 2nd Nov for those keeping count - I get my new phone from my contract. They let me change phones every two years, and I'm pretty much needing a new one now. Mine isn't really ringing out except to prove me wrong it would seem. That does mean if I've missed a call or text from you I'm sorry! My new phone is going to be a Microsoft Lumia 535, so I'm on the lookout for cool cases for it.

Fandom wise... I finally managed to finish the first anime series of Assassination Classroom, and I'm so glad I did! This was reccommended by a plurk friend and honestly, it's been the type of anime I've needed to remind me of why I like the overall genre. I do keep seeing Karma as the child of Yankumi and Shin from Gokusen though... I'm keeping up with the manga, and Anime Limited is set to release the show on DVD in the UK - Anime Limited is a Glasgow based company, so we'll be able to keep quite up to date with information!

Doctor Who has been providing me with good entertainment these past few Saturday nights, especially the ones when my little cousin joins me on Skype to watch-along. He's very vocal with his reactions, even when he's reading. He's making his way through the A Song of Ice and Fire series right now, and seems to have heavy preferences for the Stark. I have taught my young Padawan well.

Um... not too sure what else to say? I've got the psychiatrist and doctor both this week, so that'll be a ton of fun. If anyone liked it - I'm hoping I might have a new Life of Action Figures planned out for later this week. Maybe. If people would want to see it again. I'm thinking of tagging those posts with fandoms featured, so people know. I don't know though.

7 weeks till Giftmas. 7 weeks to attempt to get gifts for not just friends and close family, but little cousins under the age of 10 who don't seem to understand that a gift card is a present, it's just a present that means you get to choose what it is you get. And most of whom are still obsessed with Frozen.

... Can I go back to the Skeleton Wars?

I'm not going to lie, I feel a bit awkward about doing this, but there's a need for some money and since it happens to free up space, I'm just going to list items here that I have for all. There's BJD, Disney, Ever After High, Monster High, Action Figures... that sort of thing. It'll all be under the cut, though, so it doesn't take up any space. Please just make an offer, remember I live in the UK, and ask if you'd like to see pictures! So, here we go:

Yeaaaah... probably shouldn't be updating as soon as I am again, but hell, things keep happening with these guys. So, first of all, I finished all the icons I needed for all the figures, including a couple who haven't arrived yet but who are on their way. And yeah, there's a tantalizing hint for you. Trying to deal with all the figure people isn't easy, y'know, they're always ready to start fights.

: Well, if the newcomers would just keep to their own places, and not try to ... usurp those of us who have been here since day one

Master, that would just be Nine who was here from day one.

: My point still stands.

The Master everyone. One of the greatest evils in the universe, and yet he's still so petty. But he has a point. There's been a lot of... let's call them territory battles. Mostly between the Master and Onslaught Loki, if I'm honest. Because both of them have to prove which is the most evil of the pair of them. I'm tempted to let let Nine and Thor punch them and let it be done, but that wouldn't be fair of me, would it?

: Excuse me, but I am never petty. I am a God, a being of infinite power and you...

Are the person that owns you, so hold your breath to cool your porridge or you get locked in the cupboard. And trust me, Onslaught, you are petty. How else would you explain how to act when your other self is around?

: Irregardless. You should be bowing before me.

Yeah, not gonna happen. Go talk to the Master or Sylar about what happens to villains who try to act all big around here. It doesn't end well for them.

Right, now SOME PEOPLE have stopped interrupting, I can continue what I was going to say. For the most part, the figures all hang out pretty well together. Some clashes, and I'll tell you the stories of some of the more memorable ones soon, I promise, but like I said, for the most part people are willing to chill out. Mostly. But like I said, we'll get into that another time.

werepuppyblack: (Disney)
I need to use this more often. I know, I know, I keep saying it but nothing happens, but it will! I promise! I suppose I should give you an update on what's been happening in my life now that I'm here. The short answer is... nothing much. I'm still going to the doctor's on a regular basis to deal with the severe anxiety and depression issues and I'm waiting to see the gastric doctor about the excess of acid in my stomach but other than that it's mostly just trying to do stuff at home because... yeah.

Um... I started a review blog. Mostly dolls, toys, and basically whatever I can think of but that's there.

I'm thinking of starting up The Life of Action Figures again. I miss writing out those little stories, and I have more figures to work with now, so it would be interesting to see how it would all work now. That and it was just fun to write these stories where I interacted with the action figures. I've tried doing doll based photostories and while they're fun, I just... I dunno, I miss working with the figures.

Anything else... Been getting back into anime. I've been watching Fate/Stay Night recently, and have had Fate/Zero recommended to me as well. I also - thanks to a couple of conventions - managed to get Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood DVD boxsets for a great price, so I'm looking forward to when I've got the time to sit and marathon them.

Erm... Oh! I've been rewatching Robin Hood - the bbc series. I forgot how fun it was. And, it goes without saying, I'm keeping up with Doctor Who. Last week's episode was definitely interesting.

That's all for now. I will have more later, I promise. Hopefully I will even have an action figure story for you all!

So, because I am awake, and because I'm waiting on files to copy (I'll explain in a moment) I thought I would come and write up a post on this, well, cold Christmas morning. Hope you're all having a nice time, and managed to get something nice! My Christmas has been pretty decent so far. I got to mass last night so I didn't need to try to get down early this morning, which is always a bonus 'cause Christmas morning mass, more often than not, will end up with someone in a bad mood.

But yes, this morning, we were all downstairs in time for the Muppets Christmas Carol to start on channel 4 so we watched that for a little bit (I have it on dvd so I wasn't particularly fussed but dear gods does that movie know how to get you sobbing.) Then came the present giving. For which I won't bore you with the long and short. My brother got me a brilliant book, and my parents got my a new laptop and an external hard drive. Because my mum wants my laptop (long story) and because I need to practice backing up all of my important media. So ... yeah.

Will be watching Doctor Who later - and will most likely be giving my thoughts on the episode, and ... erm ... don't think much else, really. Oh wait, yes, I remember. Ended up watching Dirk Gently on BBC Iplayer last night. Now, I've read the book once and it was a long while ago so I am aware of how much was cut out and the like but... I actually sort of liked it. The plot was understandable, the actors were pretty brilliant, and on the whole I could see it working as a proper series.

Though it did put a couple of lines in my head:
"The thing is, being a detective, especially one like me, you kind of have to take a couple on faith."
"And they would be?"
"Well, one, you need to assume that everyone is automatically trying to hide something from you. Because everyone is guilty of something."
"Right, and the other?"
"You have to take it on faith that everyone is an idiot. More often than not, you'll be proved right."

Happy holidays everyone!

I Ship You With ____ Meme

I reallly should be doing my history essay. I'm halfway through it. And it's on a topic I understand! ... Nah, have fandom related musings instead, Much more fun
  • Since 2005 - well, since he became The Last Time Lord, the Doctor's been more inclinded to dally in romantic inclinations with his companions. Possibly a clever way of showing a biological need to procreate?
  • The Doctor avoids America 'cause the Power Rangers are there. He and Zordon made a deal. Doctor gets everywhere else in the world.
  • I'd love to see Glee try to pull of some Repo! the Genetic Opera songs
  • If they pull a Jesse on Blaine, I may be done with this show
  • Conversly, if they try to laugh off Kurt's bullying, it'll take a LOT to keep me watching
  • Why is there only one Legend of the Seeker/Power Rangers crossover? It could be linked with Rootcore! IT HAS ZEDD PEOPLE!
  • Okay, so originally, Kat was meant to be in Dino Thunder as Mrs Oliver. Actress wasn't avaible. Thus we get Hayley. So ... was Hayley's role originally written for Kat? And thus Hayley = Mrs Oliver?
  • ...Seriously, I need to work on my uni stuff...
werepuppyblack: (The Life of Action Figures)
The second year of my course at uni started back recently, and let me tell you, my Mondays are going to be the most hetic things ever. I basically have two sets of three hour blocks without breaks. It is not fun, it is very tiring. And by the time I drag myself home, I'm exhausted.

So, since I've been consinged to my room lately, I thought we'd check in with the action figures. They've been kind of quiet as of late - Sylar's sulking around making plans with the Master; the Doctors are all busy trying to make something that will clean my room automatically, Draco got into a fight with Kevin again... the usual. But yeah, they've still been quiet. Of course, I tend to think this has something to do with Saba.

Take Which Doctor Who companion are you? (girls) today!
Created with Rum and Monkey's Personality Test Generator.
You're Romana!

Silly Doctor. It's adorable, really, how hard he tries. And he is pretty brilliant, you'll give him that. But he always seems to overlook the obvious--including the fact that he's not the only Gallifreyan onboard, thank you very much. You are always calm and collected, and more often than not wonderfully witty, in the face of adversity. The Doctor knows he can count on you, even when you infuriate him!

Day 01 - A show that should never have been cancelled
Day 02 - A show you wish more people were watching
Day 03 - Your favourite new show (aired this t.v. season)
Day 04 - Your favorite show ever
Day 05 - A show you hate
Day 06 - Favourite episode of your favourite t.v. show

Okay, so since I listed Doctor Who has my favourite t.v show I'll address that one first. But I am also going to add in episodes of my joint favourite tv show - Press Gang!

Okay, so, we'll do top three for each. In no particular order, my top 3 favourite Doctor Who Episodes

1. The Five Doctors - This was the first multi-Doctor episode that I remember seeing, and it's the one that always stuck in my mind. To my mind, it's how a multi-Doctor episode should be done; them gathering together to deal with some great evil. Awesome and epic.
2. City of Death - It's a cliche but, well, Four and Romana in Paris fighting a Spagetti Monster? Total love.
3. Dalek - The first episode in the relaunch of the series that made me go "YES", and pretty much explains why I consider Nine one of my all time favourite Doctors.

My top 3 favourite Press Gang Episodes
1. Monday-Tuesday/Shouldn't I Be Taller - I always consider these two as the one episode, and I know I shouldn't but that's how seemlessly they flow into each other. I can't actually pinpoint what makes me love these episodes but I just know its there. If you watch them, you'll understand. Also: spinny hug.
2. At Last A Dragon - ... dude I don't even need to explain this one. Go find the episode and it'll tell you what you need to know.
3. There Are Crocodiles - Again: GO AND WATCH. I am not explaining this one so as not to ruin the awesome
